A dating focused social discovery website
“They are an everyday resource for people to connect over things they care about — a place to exchange new recipes, learn what's happening in their neighborhood or simply bond over a love of dogs. And they are also a place where people who share life events, like moving, parenthood or new careers, get support and encouragement. On Tuesday, Facebook announced it planned to expand the Dating feature from five markets — Colombia, Thailand, Canada, Argentina, and Mexico — to 14 new countries including Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Laos, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Guyana, and Suriname. To avoid potential privacy issues, Dating users create an all-new new dating profile separate from their main Facebook profile.(The only information imported over from Facebook proper is the user’s first name and age, as well as Facebook Groups and Events.) It’s unclear how exactly Facebook Dating is performing — the social network does not share user numbers for the feature — especially given the data privacy concerns Facebook has faced over the last 18 months. The app has also revamped its Discover and Suggested sections to offer seamless scrolling and better navigation, respectively.
Coffee Meets Bagel has raised just under million since launching back in 2012, but it’s faced threats from Tinder, which has challenged its model head-on with Tinder Picks — a curated selection of matches for Tinder Gold subscribers, similar to Coffee Meets Bagel’s curated daily picks.

The company’s anti-Tinder stance is shaping up in its social content, too.
By further distancing themselves from Tinder’s “hot-or-not” user interface design to focus on differentiating features — like conversation starters, commenting and richer profiles. On the heels of its million Series B announced earlier this year, the oddly named app Coffee Meets Bagel is today announcing a significant makeover, which includes a change to the way the app works.
Its cleaner, lightweight and more modern design does away with bright, competing colors and other outdated features, the company says.
