Dhcp not updating reverse ptr record
So what need to be done for each Azure VMs to register their PTR record dynamically?
Quite simple, the DNS Dynamic Registration setting under manual configuration of NIC properties in Azure are not persistent, so it must be automated.
These contain additional settings that can be deployed by the DHCP server. First your router is not a DNS server, so if your Server is offline, the clients will attempt to use the router as a DNS source to resolve internal names.
Since the Router does not have a DNS table, it does not know the names so it then forwards the requests to its DNS servers.
We are using non-Microsoft DHCP server with Microsoft DNS.
We would like the DHCP server to update (A) and (ptr) records to the Microsoft DNS server every time it assigns an IP address to the client.

However our reverse zone doesn't seem to be updating at all. Do you wonder if your IT business is truly profitable or if you should raise your prices?
I can do a reverse lookup on the IP and that works but not name to IP.
I was asked to setup an infrastructure in Azure Iaa S for a legacy application that requires IPv4 reverse DNS lookup (Limited to the Iaa S environment).
Hi OK, I have checked the DNS / DHCP server and a laptop I have here is not in the record list. Are your DNS servers present in the Name servers tab under the property for the zone ?
I have run IPCONFIG /REGISTERDNS which has started but it is not updating the records in the reverse zone.
